Hike to Lake Annette

by Chris Smith

Soo many great hikes in the Canadian Rockies that take you to beautiful areas. One that isn’t too busy and is overlooked is Lake Annette.

A 6 km hike into lake Annette ( one way). The hike starts at a parking lot not far from the entrance of Moraine lake road. The hike is fairly easy a small short climb up the fairly wide path. Once at the lake you can climb higher up as we did to see the view from the rocks.

You can also go back on the path and hike towards the giant steps to look at the view from there as we did. You can continue to giant steps or walk back down. A good overall hike with very few people as most will drive to Moraine lake.

Things to bring on your hike

  1. Waterbottle, food snack there is no convenience store on the trail.
  2. Bear Spray. This is something that needs to be with you at all times when hiking in the Canadian Rockies.
  3. Wind, rain, or puffy jacket layers for inclement weather
