Casino in the Rockies – Stoney Nakoda by K Gordon Schultz April 29, 2010 written by K Gordon Schultz April 29, 2010 0 comment 0FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail 1.6K Casino in the Rockies’ – Stoney Nakoda If you are looking to do something a little different on your weekend in Banff National Park, one great option to…ahem…gamble on is the Stoney Nakoda Casino in Kananaskis Country. Only a short drive from Banff, Canmore and Calgary, it really is one of the most fun things you can do in the surrounds. On Fridays and Saturday evenings there are complimentary buses running between Calgary and Banff and Canmore so you can go and enjoy a few drinks while you play the tables. If you are a smoker, you will also enjoy the fact that you can smoke inside for the first time in many years! The Stoney Nakoda is not a seedy place by any means. Sometimes the image of a casino is one of sweaty men (I describe myself) pushing over each other trying to get the last of their chips onto the roulette table. The Stoney Nakoda is big and spacious and the atmosphere extremely welcoming. It is welcoming not just to people who are going to be betting but also to anyone who just wants to come and enjoy a drink or better again the all-you-can-eat buffet. The rooms in the resort are classy and yet amongst the cheapest in the Canadian Rockies with prices starting at $79 a night. It is a great place to come away for a corporate trip, a stag do from Calgary or just a fun night away from Banff. To check what time the complimentary bus stops into Banff and Canmore, give the guys at Stoney Nakoda a call. Phone: 403 881 2830 Directions: Take the Kananaskis Exit from Highway 1A. You can’t miss the signs from here! 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail K Gordon Schultz K Gordon Schultz is a well-known figure in the golf community and currently serves as the President of the Canmore Golf & Curling Club in Canmore, Alberta, Canada.
