Dining in the Canadian Rockies: Letโs All Go For Breakfast! by K Gordon Schultz June 4, 2014 written by K Gordon Schultz June 4, 2014 0 comment 0FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail 643 Thereโs something about heading out for breakfast, particularly on lazy weekends. None of the eat and dash that is so common for all of us during the work week. Often I will find myself up early on the weekend, and I will take my time just hanging around the house, working slowly thru a pot coffee while catching up on the golf and the local papers. And itโs not until mid-morning that I get really motivated about breakfast. Also, when the kids got older, we didnโt see them rise and shine until mid-morning! This is when I start to think of my favourite breakfast spots in the Canadian Rockies. So here are four of our familyโs โgo toโ spots for breakfast: Table of Contents Coyotes Southwestern GrillMelissaโs MissteakBrunoโs Bar and GrillSummit Cafe Coyotes Southwestern Grill 206 Caribou Street, Banff, AB โ 403 762 3963 Serving fresh, healthy, creative cuisine in a friendly, casual atmosphere. Try the Chorizo Sausage Frittata to put a zing in your day. The combination of chorizo, sun dried tomatoes served with roasted potatoes and toast will give you all the energy you need to conquer the day! Melissaโs Missteak 218 Lynx Street, Banff, AB โ 403 762 5511 Donโt let the name fool you, no โmissteakโ here! Operating continuously in Banff for over 30 years, Melissaโs pride themselves with fresh and โmade from scratchโ menu items. For something a little different, give the Harvest Benny a go. Eggs poached to order with sliced tomato, asparagus spears and hollandaise. Live dangerously and order a side of corned beef hash to pump the volume! Brunoโs Bar and Grill 304 Caribou Street, Banff, AB โ 403 762 8115 What setโs Brunoโs apart is the fact they serve breakfast all day. So no matter what time of day the urge for breaky strikes you, Brunoโs has it ready! I will go for the pulled pork skillet, served with crispy hash, tomato and cheese. Funky atmosphere with a real localโs diner feel! Summit Cafe 1001 Cougar Creek Drive, Canmore, AB โ 403 609 2120 Located outside Canmoreโs downtown core up in the Cougar Creek area of town, the Summit Cafe is truly a local haunt. With its combination of Canadian and Mexican fare, you will find undoubtedly one the best versions of huevos rancheros in the Bow Valley. A unique offering with the eggs, cheese and tomato covering a mound of roasted potatoes. The full south facing deck is open throughout the summer. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail K Gordon Schultz K Gordon Schultz is a well-known figure in the golf community and currently serves as the President of the Canmore Golf & Curling Club in Canmore, Alberta, Canada.
